sus emanage?

hey,
building custom turbo etc.
looking for ecu/piggy and came across this:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....8296061&rd=1,1

to me its cheap for the emanage plus the fuel and timing harnessess(sp?)
about 550 for the unit alone, 120eachish for the harnessess = 900$AUD
but the actual unit in this sale looks off color,
is it the same as the greddy emanage blue, or an even more basic unit?
blue unit pic here: http://di1.shopping.com/images/di/55...00x100-0-0.jpg

but i spose all i need to do is control fuel and timing, correct?
so aslong as it can do that i should be fine?

thanks
-Steven

also they have the ultimate unit, with all harnesses http://cgi.ebay.com.au/GREDDY-E-MANA...QQcmdZViewItem

14-PIN harness, Totally New harness specifically for the new features on the e-manage ultimate.
18-PIN harness, Also called the Main harness in the blue e-manage which contains the Main wires & injector wires.
12-PIN harness, Also called the ignition harness in the blue e-manage.
This harness is necessary if you have Never installed the e-manage blue before, it contains All the wires needed to fully install the e-manage Ultimate and gets its full potential.

would this be better

The blue one wont work , the ultimate I was able to test it on a ralliart and can be able to modify fuel and timing HOWEVER it was a PITA to install NO SUPPORT from GREDDY and also we ended up changing it for a SMT-6 ... just my opinion.. The only thing you need is to control ignition and fuel everything else is a bonus !!!

If you are already in Austrailia...why not go with the Haltech, or a Haltech unit from RPW ?

Local country support......no import fees.....and from what they say, it's a kick *** product (the whole model range)

Didn't greddy tell someone over email from this forum, that, there is no official support for our cars when using the eManage ? didn't others try it as well and fail ? ...just a thought.

Exactly but that was for the BLUE unit ..... not even the ultimate version which is relatively new has support for our cars but since its universal you can still manage to install it....

ill try and find a local supplier,
the place i was going to go check out use motec i think(and others)
http://www.jpc.com.au/dyno.php
will see what they quote me, coz i need custom made parts aswell - mani, dp, etc

also unrelated, lost about 1+litre oil fitting gauges today, and still didnt get it finished coz there is a slight difference in fitting sizes, i have 1/8", but some are NPT and others are bst(or whatever it is) so i have to go back to pirtek tmoz

1/8"NPT (national pipe thread) is what is on the engine block, as well as being the standard for gauges (or so I thought ) you have different fittings for your gauges?

When u use the piggy, smt or whatever, how do you know how much timing to pull? I mean, is there a logger that logs the knock sensor so you can tell exactly where to pull timing, or am I way off base here?

that's the only problem with tuning yourself. unless you have the tactrix cable you can't log from the knock sensor. I am sure any reputable tuner will have a method of hooking up to your car to log this stuff though, but be sure to ask before you start messing with timing.

nah not the guages,
i went with the mount method on the back of the block like u mentioned, but remote mounted using the turbo feed line i had(have to get another lol) and yeah the 1/8npt didnt exactly fit in the end (female) where u put the flange so if squirted out of there
