RRM turbo support mods

So after two years of reading about everyone elses RRM turbo kit I've pretty much decided to take the plunge this August. What I'm wondering is what supporting mods everyone would suggest for the kit. Obviously suspension and usable intake and exhaust mods like IM and catback, but what else? I've had people suggest a turbo timer. So any other ideas?

P.S.
Other than a boost gauge, what gauges does everyone suggest, and what companies make quality, affordable gauges.

Thanks for all the help

As for gauges, if you are into the "Space Shuttle" interior look, go with the following:

3 gauge A Pillar pod, Radio Delete EVO 3 gauge pod, steering colum "Mickey Mouse" 2 gauge pod.

I don't have the A pillar pod, but I have both of the others.

Then fill with the following (starting with MY OPINION of the most important):

- Wide Band and/or EGT
- Boost/VAC
- Oil Pressure
- Narrow Band (if Wideband is not used)
- Oil Temperature

..the ofcourse, the redundancy of Water Temp, Voltage, AMPs......

I ended up going with Autometer Phantoms just because they match/light up just like the stock interior cluster, so will fit nicely in terms of aesthetics.....

I myself will not be using a Wideband, as I wil not be planning on Tuning the car and a Narrow Band (which I already have) is going to be good enough.

I will however be adding an EGT, as I want to be able to MAKE sure that my Boost Cooler is making a difference and to be able to monitor the temps themselves.

Some might say that OIL PRESSURE/TEMP gauges might be a little redundant, but I say, if you are tapping into your oiling system for Turbo cooling/lub purposes, I want to see what it is doing to the life blood of the motor itself in the process.....IMPORTANT in my opinion.

I can't comment on a TT, as I am going to be running a Supercharger, but I see most guys have them anyways, so it can't hurt to extend the life of the Turbo a bit.

Supporting MODS in the way of INTAKE and EXHAUST are always good......regardless of induction type, so the more the better I think.

Anyways, good luck and it will be nice to see another car in town to race.

Allan

I say install a QTP exhaust cutout and have an RPM switch open it once you hit total boost ..EVOs gain sort of 25WHP just from that and its just 200 .. ANother thing can be a water/aly kit to help your IAT lower and therefore running safer... as always PULLEY , IM , CAMSHAFTl, BRAKES and the usual mods

I liked how you put brakes in that equation , so many people think about going fast but not stopping fast...I would personally reccomend the EBC red stuff with some ss lines, I have them and I love the responsivness(sp?)...I would add LSD,lightened flywheel, and at least a stage 1 clutch with ss clutch lines, o and motor mounts....good tires too.....lol...that should do you...

If you like guages an having them in your face go with what akinakin said.
If you want a simpiler solution go with the zetranix wideband it has egt/boost options so you dont have to spend the cash on the guages.(you end up spending the same amount too)

what akinakin said about gauges. Def. need EGT, Boost and Oil pressure. Oil Temp would be nice.....as well as the wideband.

My wishlist if I were to ever go turbo (I already have my suspension built, and a RRM UDP):
-Wideband and necessary gauges with radio relocate
-RRM LSD
-good grippy tires (already have)
-good brakes (pads and fluid at minimum, RRM big brake kit FTW with SS brake lines)
-RRM ported intake
-RRM head job (easy fellas...I'm talkin' bout the car's head)
-RRM cam
-ARP headstuds
-forged pistons, rods, valves (notice I would want to boost a little higher than 8psi?)
-RRM HD clutch
-RRM light flywheel
-RRM CBE
-mini battery
-upgraded fuel pump (? possibly need with my desire for higher boost)
-Larger TB
-bored out fuel rail
-proper plugs (colder plug)
-probably locally tuned by Dave Buschur

Ah....I can dream, can't I?
