Just remember, the throttle isn't an on/off switch. You probably won't be able to floor it until near the end of second gear or start of third in order to keep traction. You'll have to practice at feathering the throttle right on the threshold of losing traction.

Well there's the obvious things like...

-tires at 15-20lbs
-1/4 tank of gas
-take out spare/jack

I've had some un-timed success with this method. I launch a 2500rpm and immediately shift at about 5500rpm, then ride the gears till about 6200rpm for 2nd - 4th.

First tops out too fast and all you do is loose momentum if you redline it, not to mention you'll win the one-wheel burnout contest. I only use first to get the car moving just fast enough to keep 2nd from smoking. Once you nail the 1-2 shift, the rest is cake.

I've tried a 2nd gear launch on my old clutch once, and I think I pissed her off! My car smoked and chattered for almost a whole day after that... I'll never do that again. Funny, I got almost the same response from surprising an old girlfriend from the backside!

Head and cams, alky + boost, piston + boost, alky + piston = major boost. Best thing to do is increase boost. IMO

Take your wheels off and buy a lighter smaller set. Maybe ditch some weight IE stereo stuff.

It's gonna be really hard to beat Civics with any kind of swap, especially old school hatches with B series... bastards run 14 seconds all day N/A

Agreed
It just winds up so friggin fast its pointless.
I find myself hitting the rev limiter an getting fuel cut a lot more no so i just dont even bother. 2nd pulls real good an so does third i would imagine.
But at this point my clutch just slips like hell when i hit over 5k anyways

this is something that hopefully we will be playing with this season on the Haltech in having various boost settings for different gears/rpm we did a once off attempt with it briefly but we forgot to add something to make it work correctly this coupled with the new LSD clutch and flywheel should see us doing some much better times

As for your thoughts on racing techneques launch at 2200rpm with tires down to 19 - 21psi depending on track temps and tire compound softt tires hot track lower the psi to 19 as heated air expands and the real psi will increase over cold air which contracts.. once you have launched don't rush to get into second too quickly you need to feel when the wheels have almost stopped spinning then shift this will give you good traction and will keep the rpms up high and reduce bogging down.. the first 60ft is the most important part of the race, if you don't get this bit right your times will be down dramaticlly get it right and you will have a great o/a time sheet
