4g63 swap

Ok so im not to sure about this but the 99 eclipse 4g63 motor, is reletivly close to an evo motor correct? i can get an eclipse 4g63 for VERY cheap, would a swap from the 4g69 to eclipse 4g63 be benificial?

what motor is in your lancer? if you have the 4g64 you could swap an evo 8 motor with the 4g64 manual transmission...i had a 3g eclipse with 4g64 and always thought about swaping an evo motor mainly because the 4g64 manual transmission bolts right up to the evo motor...only problem is the starter will hit the exhaust manifold

the 4g63 that are in the dsm's are completly opposite of the evo 8 4g63

yeah but as you can tell the cam on your motor is on the passenger side and the cams on a 99 eclipse 4g63 dsm motor are on the drive side...complete opposite so it won't work do some research and see if the evo 8 head matches up to your 4g69 block...i know the evo 8 head matches up to the 4g64 block...try and see if the 4g64 and 4g69 block are identical?

What makes the 4g63 in the gs-t different from the one in the evo? im just curios cuz i have a friend who alway says his motor is the same as an evo, and i knew he was wrong, but i never could find out what the real difference is.

if you wanting to swap the motor for a turbo i would just say turbo your 4g69 bro. lots of evo **** will fit, like the 18G turbo, intercooler, injectors ext. thats what i have on the way right now, and it will bring much more power.

as far an NA goes, unless you have a sponsership or a ton of money lying around, its not worth it. 500$ here 500$ there, 15hp here 20 hp there. i guess if you really wanna go NA its a good choice, but for me 3,000(custom kit) with well over 300 to the wheel sounds better to me.
my 2 cents

no, it wont work. The turbo faces the opposite direction on the older eclipse motors. The newer evo motor is not the same as the eclipse gst/gsx motor. Yea they're both 4g63's, but they face opposite directions. Basically flipped around

You don't want a 4G63 out of a 99 gst anyways. 2g motors were weak and prone to crankwalking if you put a heavy duty clutch in it.
