very cool Gary, looks awesome! i have that pipe in the box, but i haven't had time to get to the post office...i had C7 (M16) training all day the last 2 days, and i didn't make it friday...i'm a terrible friend...i'm back at the unit tomorrow so i can get away with sneaking to the post office at lunch time

OT: Before leaving for Iraq (July, '04) I qual'd Marksman on M-16A1, but it was then that I realized my eyesight was 40+ years old and I couldn't see squat down those iron sights at 500yds! Praise God that I scored all my points at 200 & 300 yds.
Note: The bottom bolt hole had to be notched in order to mount the WG housing and remove that bolt, for the pipe was too close. So, now, you have to thread that bolt halfway in, but allow room to slide the housing up and between the turbo and ac compressor, then slide the notched bracket assy down over the top of the bolt. Akward, yet it works!

we used the C7A2, ours have repetition and auto (i know some M-16's have burst), and ambidextrious fire selector and mag release. And cause we're Canadian, it also has a massively extended charging handle lever (always gets caught on stuff you're wearing) and removeable trigger guard for arctic ops so you can operate it with huge mittens on, lol. I'm only required to qual at 100m to stay current, prone unsupported, prone with gas mask, sitting, kneeling and standing. For a deployment you would do 200m as well as night shooting. The tritium illuminated C79 optical sight helps a bunch.

I'm tossed as to whether to ceramic coat hackish's pretty stainless manifold to bring down temps, or to leave it as is. If I do, it'll probably be black (polished aluminum will dull under those temps), along with the turbine housing and dowpipe. It'll only be a 7-10 day wait, then I'll be up and running!

Oil's drained and pan is PRYED off...
Question: the oil feed line puts out a bit of pressure through that two millimeter hole in the flange, does that mean the oil drain line is under the same pressure or is it gravity only?

the oil enters the center section under pressure, and from there the oil scavenge is gravity only, it is important for the scavenge line to be a much greater diameter and be free from any obstruction, failure to comply could result in oil pushing past the seals into the compressor or turbine section. the oil seals are not seals so much as they are like a plate with a maze pattern, if the scavenge is restricted in any way and too much oil fills the center section, oil will make it out of the maze, and you'll consume a lot of oil through either the intake or exhaust side.

Did I understand that they just drilled, tapped, and used a pipe-thread bung for the oil return line? Is my oil pan thick enough to receive enough threads if it was done that way, just curious? Another place for oil to leak in my opinion.
