Are Electric Turbos Worth it?

I'm thinking about getting the following electric turbo on Ebay.

Ebay Electric Turbo Charger?

Has anyone heard or currently use this or something simular on there ralliart?

Also I've heard some really bad things about the electric turbos however this one looks really solid and was just wondering if it is any different.

Yea. I've seen the search results. I've also never seen one that looked like this.

Please don't fall for these scams.. There is only one product out there that actually works, however it is not anywhere near practical http://www.boosthead.com/home.php

It takes horsepower to produce horsepower.. and electric supercharging is no different.. The only working supercharger I have ever seen is by Thomas Knight Industries.. And there's a reason you don't see everyone using one..

These kits you see on EBAY are not going to be functional.. Most cannot produce any notable change in airflow, nor can they move enough air to produce useful boost.. PERIOD.. THey are just air model airplane ducted fan motors, or air pumps from some DC powered Vacuum.. THEY DO NOT WORK..

THere have been hundreds of people who have fallen for these scams..

the only working Electric supercharger utilizes several batteries, has specific charging requirements, requires heavy duty wiring.. and the overall weight of the batteries outweighs some of the performance gains, it also runs for a limited time before the auxiliary batteries need to be recharged.

Malibu JAck is right.. I wouldnt trust a Electric Turbo or Supercharger at all.I have worked on turbo DSM's for a while now and I can tell ya right now,THE ELECTRIC ONES SUCK! It is all a scam.If they really did work do you think Car companies would put Real turbos in thier cars?Yes they want less cost to build the car,but the Electric ones dont put out much HP at all and that would do more harm in sales than it would good since most turbo vehicles are geared toward a younger market. If you are going to turbo your RA I would suggest using RRE/RRM's new turbo kit that will be coming out soon. They seem to know their stuff when it comes to mitsu's and dsm's.. Just my opinion..

I've seen a few of these put on a dyno, and they make LESS horsepower than a good CAI in most cases. The little electric fans "pushing" in air can't keep up with the engines need for air and actually hampers air flow rather than increasing it.

The Thomas Knight ones look like they would work - those are some SERIOUS motors on that thing - but then again those go for about a grand for just the unit, then you need all the extra batteries and wiring for it... that can probably cost almost as much as an actual supercharger. Not to mention the fact that they only work in short 15 second bursts due to the incredible wattage needed to keep the unit running.
