LSD Varibility

I think that the RA has too much varibility in the LSD. I saw 2 stock RA race Last night and one caught nicely like my moded one, but the other could not get traction to save his life. What do you guys think. I drove the other guys and his caught pretty nicely.

Nope, open diff. Punch it hard off a tight turn, the inside tire will light up like a mother-f...

I think it's just driver ability. I never have a problem locking up. But if what you're saying is right then I must have got a good one.

I think the only REAL nesassary thing would be that clutch line. I've driven a couple cars w/ LSD and its fun...there is ZERO TQ steer and feels more solid in the turns.

I'd say that unless your goin' to the track or auto cross (more track I think) I wouldn't bother w/ the LSD. Get the clutch line and work on your launch.

I don't seem to get much, if any, torque steer in my RA. I had more in my NA Talon, which had MUCH less torque. I also seem to get less wheelspin/hop in the RA. I think they just designed the RA much better than they used to do with the first generation DSMs.

Neither torque-steer or wheel hop has been a big prob for me either. Only thing I get irritated about is every time I come around a street corner and get on it a bit, I light off the inside tire. Not as bad now with the new Toyo's (GREAT improvement btw) but still...

I can see also how the old Talons/Eclipses had probs - my old Peon with the same motor (just with the cylinder head on backwards) was a torque-steering wheel hopping demon before the motor mounts.

Your Neon came with a 4g63? I thought those were all 420A's.

I almost wrecked my car the first time i tried this, I was comming off the freeway at about 30-40 and I was turning left midway through the turn I let the clutch out in second gear and did a power slide across two lanes of traffic and almost hit the center divider, I guess that was my open dif.

The NA talon had a 420a, did it not? It's not called the 420a in the Neon, that's the mitsu part #, but uh... yeah. I had the 2.0 Chrysler DOHC. It was rated at 150hp, but only put like 7 more hp to the wheels than the SOHC which was rated at 132hp.

The 90-94 NA's had a 4g63. They switched to the 420a in 95.
