Do not drive without a filter. They are there for a reason. I wouldn't even go around the block. Unless you live somewhere without dirt, rocks, bugs, and small animals. Either way it is not worth it.

Well I should have looked at this thread before e-mailing Summit... has anybody gotten positive results with a K&N? Maybe compare it to a SR? Thanks.

I have a K&N drop in filter but I really can't tell you if you can feel a difference. I put the filter in a few weeks after I bought the car. So I never really got a feel for how it was without it. I'm probably gonna get an SRI here in a few. I'll just put the K&N in my girls car cuz she's got an Outlander.

I live in an place without dirt, rocks bugs and small animals. I live in the city and its winter. I did this and havn't had any problems. I would never do anything more then just go around the block and I wouldn't do it very often but our motors can handle it.

I replaced my fairly dirty stock air filter with a K&N recently & noticed no difference. Even if it does make an extra 5 hp, I doubt my butt-o-meter is sensitive enough to notice. I am taking it to the track this weekend & we'll see how it performs there.

5 hp to the crank at best so maybe 2-3 hp at the wheels at best. Your right your butt'o'meter can't tell

I completely agree, what is with the lancer drive by wire sensor? That is stoner engineering. Just thought I'd give my two cents of worthless input.

I believe our foot has a direct cable link to the throttle.

Nope. You can follow the throttle cable around the front of the engine compartment to the electronic throttle control next to the passenger side headlight. From there it's throttle by wire.

Wow, did not know. I'll have to say it pretty responsive for DBW.
