Not yet...a few of us have been trying to drum up some interest in getting a company to manufacture one, but no success...yet. The more posts on the matter though, maybe one of them'll cave in!

"Widebody Lancer" is planning on developing a downpipe with a magnaflow high flow cat on it. So the idea is out there, just not in the real soon future.

Why do you want the stock one?

I have a stock pipe with only 3,000 miles one it. I've had it wrapped in plastic since I took it off. The only thing keeping me from selling it is the possibillity of having to swap it for a warranty claim!

Last I heard federal laws make it illegal to change, remove, or modify the factory cat unless it can be shown to be in some way defective.

Now, if you put on a downpipe and that replaces a cat then my understanding is that you are at least subject to federal penalties. The real question is: What are the chances of actually getting caught. It would probably be pretty rare that you would get called on a downpipe that replaces the stock cat with a high flow, but hey "you gotta pay to play".

As soon as a downpipe is made (with a high flow cat?) that won't trigger my CEL - I'll make the purchase. Until then, theres no chance :P

Hey i have the RRM downpipe, and although it is illegal it is worth the money. Plus it only takes what at most a half hour to put the stock pipe back on for inspection. If i were all of you i would go for the RRM downpipe, and stop worrying about emitions and all. I meen what are you afraid of? If a cop pulls you over it is'nt like he is gonna be like ooooo you have an illegal downpipe on there your getting fined, no one will know until you take it in for inspection, and thats when i always put the stock pipe back on, a half hour once a year is'nt bad at all. Oh and i was'nt baching anyone so dont think that, just puting in my 2 cents

I realize there's little "risk" of any kind by running an off road pipe, it's just that from previous experience with such setups I'd prefer to have a high flow cat on there:

- hp loss with a good high flow cat over an off road pipe is un-noticable
- having a cat on there reduces that awful raspiness of running a free flowing exhaust - IMO it just sounds like $hit like that
- as long as I do have a cat on there, neither the dealer nor authority's in my area could care less if it's the origional one or not, so no hassle's from either whatsover
- maybe getting soft in my old age *L*, but running with a cat (even a high flow one) is better for the air we all breathe...

You better hope there arent any environmentalists on these threads But you guys forgot to tell about the awful sound that so many of you have experienced, especially if you have stock muffler.

I'll deal with the noise and the pollution, but I don't really want to stare at a CEL. When it's on all the time, and I just think it's the O2 sensor, how will I know if something else is setting it off? I'll wait for an O2 simulator thingy to come out for our car.

the gains with a high flow cat vs. a catless test pipe are about the same.. but without the pollution..

I've gotta agree here, going catless is only for a RACE car, however when we drive around town all over we have STREET cars, and the couple peak hp missing is not even noticeable on the street. I'd sport a high-flow cat, but not go catless. All this "who cares about the environment" attitude just feeds the fire for all these people fighting against the aftermarket and all the modifications we like to do to our cars.
