Noob Q: CAI and Canadian Winters

Hi guys, I've been reading these forums for over 4 months now and decided to finally post! Read the forums for a couple months then decided that I just needed the Ralliart!! I just bought an 05 Lightning Yellow Ralliart MT with the S&S package a couple weeks ago and have been absolutely loving it!!

Anyhoo, I live in Ottawa Canada and needless to say, it can get pretty cold up here during the winter. Talking -30/-40 degrees Celsius at times.

I've done google searches and forum searches and can't put my finger on the answer to this question...hoping someone here will have the answer.

Can anything detrimental happen if I have a CAI installed and drive around in these sub-zero temps?

Thanks for the responses in advance!!

**EDIT** I should add that this is my first car... been driving my parents Ford Taurus all these years. I know close to zero when it comes to installing mods and stuff. I know what some of them do... others I'm clueless. But I must say I love coming on here and seeing you fellow RA'ers helping each other out. Just glad to have somewhere I can go read all about my car and what others are doing to theirs.

Really the only thing that can go wrong with a CAI is if you drive through a really deep puddle and suck water into the intake. -40 degrees won't do anything bad to your car and if it gets that cold you won't have to worry about those puddles either!!!! lol!!! You shouldn't have a problem though.

dre,

I live in ottawa also. I had my CAI on untill mid January when we had all of that rain. I'm now running short ram untill spring. the colder the air is the better. just be carefull in DEEP water. Rain is fine puddles are fine..just don't go through something over 10 inches deep or more or you could risk it. I have the Injen CAI...sounds great.

Thanks to both of you! I was suspecting as much since I couldn't find any info saying the really low temps would be bad. Can't wait to get this on there now.. just have to wait another couple weeks for the backpay to come in. Once I get that, I'll be tinting and putting the CAI on.

Mojambo, I was going to get my windows tinted at Final Lap in Orleans.. Have you heard of anyone having bad experiences there?

Thanks!

nah,

tint is pretty easy. but I had my tint done at Donnelly mitsu, they have a guy that comes in. HE messed up my tint. FULL of bubbles and the tint was not cut even around the windows. I had it redone by Car and stereo something on BANK st. they had to remove the old suff and redo it. AMAZING job. it should cost about 250, no more. If someone asks for more. shop arround. 250 to 280 MAX plus tax
