Installed shortshifter and clutchline

Product: Authority EVO 5pc Short Shifter Combo from LancerShop.com.

Installation: Used the B&M install instructions posted in the forum. I suggest clicking the discussion link and then following the visual install link posted. Also, if you don't have it, buy some grease.

Don't have much to add, except watch out for the sharp plastic edges. I must have cut myself a dozen times.

Result: Decreased shift throw... surprise surprise! It's not a MAJOR decrease, but it is crisper.

Product: Stainless Steel clutchline from RRM

Installation: Used the SS Clutchline install posted in the forums. Again, follow the link to continue the discussion. DO use a line wrench. I ended up stripping one of the nuts; had to saw the line off at the nut and buy a set of Bolt-out sockets from Sears to get the thing off.

There's not a lot of room to work so be patient.

Result: Clutch feels a lot less spongy.

Still have to do the underhood bushings that came with the LancerShop kit. But overall, shifting feel and response has increased.

Definitely. I had to keep flipping my line wrench over to get the 1/12th of a turn on it that I could get in that tight space.

BTW, I went to Home Depot and they had no idea what a line wrench was. I ended up getting mine from AutoZone, but they also carry them at Sears.

Any shortshift, shiftbase bushings, and underhood shift cable bushings made for the Evo will fit the Ralliart, but nothing else. If you're looking at the lancershop kit (the only one I can think of that comes with the brass bushings) then it'll fit fine.

I used that and I still ended up stripping that back nut. I ended up using a locking plier. Also, I took that entire bracket that the back piece is connected to off. Then I put the bracket on one of the openings closer to the front on the transmission. This gave me some more room to work.

I don't know what to say, then. That bracket's flimsy as hell. All I did was hold the line in place with a wrench that fit (17mm?), and use the flare nut wrench to loosen the fitting. Mine came right off.

The nuts are 10mm and the line is 18 inches.

The good news is that the line is really easy to saw through, if it becomes a worst case secenario.

Question

Sorry to revive and old thread, but since i´m looking into buying this kit from lancershop, I did a search and all I found was this thread.

Everywhere I´ve looked, it doesnt say anything about the shifter height, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the shifter features a reduced height, and if so, by how much over the stock shifter??

I´d like to improve the shifter feel and everything, but I don´t want the shifter to be all tucked into the boot (I´d really rather have a stock-like height). Thanks guys

It's really only about 1" shorter, so not that much. It doesn't get all tucked into the boot, but it looks a lot better than stock, which IMO is too tall.

Thanks for the input. As long as it´s not like a 3" drop in height, I´m in for it.
