Next Ralliart project!
I bought a fuel line cooler. It's about 4"wide by 12" long with copper tubing and aluminum fins & comes with mounting brackets. I also bought 2 rolls of thermo tape and a 2'x1' thermo shield to help protect my manifold/TB against radiant engine heat. I'm hoping that with these products & the phenolic gaskets I can get a pretty decent cool dose of fuel/air mixture.
I applied the thermoshield to the intake manifold plenum & front of the runners. After driving about 1/2 hr I could place my hand fully on the intake manifold & TB, they were only slightly warm. The rest of the engine was untouchable as usual. Can't wait to install the fuel line cooler.

what i did on the exahust manifold was yo paint it with high temp paint (for a sense of protecction)... then i wraped it up moisting the wrap instead of soaking it.
i could have used ceramic coating on it.. but the only place here in my area was kind of pricy and i had to be on foot for a week... so that wasnt an option for me...
same i did with my injen cai (wo/ painting it) installed the spacers and im considering taking the heater hoses off, sine i dont need them here. but that is still underconsideration...

From what I've read & seen, it's not so much the moisture & resultant rust but the incredibly elevated temps created inside the exhaust tubes. Everyone knows headers run very hot but then imagine them being wrapped with a fireproof material made to withstand 2200 deg F. It's like taking a torch to the insides of your pipes. They should decay alot faster than normal. With that said, you still see alot of racers using header wrap on the track & street so I guess it's a choice again, cause there are benefits to having your exhausts wrapped.
BTW I drove my car this evening about 50 min straight ( including 1 race) and then immediately checked the manifold/TB: same deal, warm to touch. Didn't dare touch anything else, could feel the heat emanating from the valvecover!
