Thermostat
Thermostat
Has anyone here changed their thermostat, I heard that if you change it to cooler temp thermo that you will actually improve your performance. Ex. you might be runnin a 190 thermo, what this means is that until your engine hits 190 you will retain all heat in the block therefore keeping the block at a constant 190 degrees or hotter. If you change to a 185 thermo you've just cut your engine temps down by 15 deg. and thermo's are dirt cheap too. But this is just a suggestion
Urban Legend man, the only thing a cooler thermostat will do is cause your engine to run cooler than its proper operating temp. It might effect performance a little, but get ready for a car thats really cold to drive during winter.
Just as a side note, it doesn't sound good for your engine either. The thermostat in there is set for the optimal operating temp., any colder and you're probably putting more wear on your engine.
