exhaust help

my goal is to reach 14's. i just put exhaust from header back on my car and i wanted a high flow cat too. i told them to do 2.25 and they put 2.5 now my car sounds like a honda and i'm not happy. should go back and tell them they screwed up or keep 2.5 and just keep goin with my mods to reach my goal?? also my next mod is rrm piggy but after that i don't know where to go. my current list is: rrm cai, rrm crank pulley, rrm axleback, the new exhaust w/ hi flo cat(which is pissing me off). thanx

if you want serious power. scrap all the bs boltons and just slap the turbo kit on there. cuz with all the stuff youve listed it would still total up to half a turbo kit.

ps. the stock piping is 2.25inch so why would you get the same thing ..... the only restrictive parts of the stock exhaust is the pinched part in the downpipe right behind the cat , and the muffler.

Its kinda hard to cough up 4300 bucks for a turbo. But in the long run, if you are patient and save up for it, then its the best way to go.

Are you sure they went 2.5? I have a custom 2.25 on my OZ and the piping size is quite large. The only way I know it is 2.25 is that it has that number ingraved on some of the piping.

All that your 2.5 should do is take a little low end power out but the high end should be much better. For 1/4 mile times you will probably benefit more in that higher rpm range anyway.

Rusty,

The louder sound is from FLOW. I added the RRM DP and had a custom 2.25 built all the way straight through. The next day I added a high flow cat and an inline resonator cause the sound was too loud. Even with the added cat and resonator, the sound is still on the loud side. The car just becomes loud when it breaths. I spent about $1200 to find this out. Nothing I added cut out the sound. I finally settled on a custom muffler that cut the resonating sound.

Face it the 2.4 with a flowing exhaust system will be loud........just wait till a header comes out. LOL

Good luck
