Results of DIY manifold P&P...

Finally done my manifold P&P! I only have qualitative results at this time and haven't tested high speed results yet. Throttle response in low and midrange are improved. Most noticeable improvement is when MIVEC kicks in around 3000 rpm. RPMs "rocket" to redline noticeably faster. I can get louder/longer tire squeal from a dead stop (auto tranny) so imagine you 5 sp guys!! Engine idles more smoothly, idle rpm seemed to drop by 50-100 rpms. Engine seems alot quieter for some reason. Heat from manifold & TB reduced but still pretty warm due to ambient engine compartment heat. I ordered a fuel line cooler & thermal tape and shielding already. I'm playing around with the idea of hood vents to combat underhood heat. No quantitative results yet with the G-Tech meter. I'll post more results later.

Yeah, I'll post results from my G-Tech cause there's no dyno avail around here. I was going to take pics on completion but then I realized there's not really any visual differences on the outside so you won't notice anything different.

No, I didn't paint the edges but there's so little of it to see that if you weren't looking for it you wouldn't notice it. I shaved approx 2-3mm on each "side" of the intake ports & a bit off the injector shrouds. Approx 2mm off the edges of the manifold's TB mount hole.

any chance of gutting the exhaust manifold? Could yield good benefits... just punch out the cat

I think their cat is in the downpipe not the manifold like our cars.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Anyway, seems like there are good gains for you on the Manifold. I can't wait to get mine installed. Waiting on the thermo gaskets to get here. I'd be disappointed to find out that the heat is not reduced that much as I paid a fair penny for mine.

Well, even his Gtech results aren't a bad guide. They have proven to be reletively accurate.

Are you saying that you lowered the MIVEC actuation point by doing this? That i dont believe.

N1, I opted to leave the tubular exhaust manifold for now but dumped the resonator & put a hi-flow Cat on with a Flowmaster muff. OEM Cat is just after the downpipe & SS flexjoint.
LSD, like PR says the closest dyno to me is somewhere in Tampa. Besides, I've never been much of a dyno guy ($), I usually just test myself against other tuners. But I can understand some guys want to see quantitative measurements. But a G-Tech will have to do. And at least I can compare my readings.
Good Lord no I don't think a manifold P&P will change the MIVEC, I only meant under part throttle acceleration when the MIVEC cam lobes kick in, there seems to be a more "robust" change in pull than normal.
WAD, to tell you the truth, I was expecting more of a gain from P&P. It just seems like modern engines respond more to mods than the old musclecar V8s so my expectations were a bit higher but I suppose for the relatively cheap cost of this mod, it's not a bad gain. And the mani/TB does feel cooler but just look at all that ambient engine compartment heat. I mean I can hardly touch my strut tower bar and it's not even connected to the engine! That's why I'm looking into hood venting. Good luck on your manifold project. Where did you buy your phenolics?

I ordered my gaskets from RPW. They already make them for the 4G94. I bought them because on their site they say it lowers the intake temperatures by Half!! If I am doing a manifold install I only want to do it once and get full benefit like you did.

The gaskets are probably 10 days away still so I won't get to swap my manifold till next year after the holidays.
