hye i was doing some research...a nd looking at a mazda at a friends shop...

electric pump driver, technically it "might" work the issue is to fit it to our applications...
for 90 dollars.. is worth a try.....

for more info:

this might not be a full electric water pump, but the driver takes the work out of the belt...

Don't bypass your AC compressor in the winter!!! First off, the AC has to kick on occasionally to keep itself lubricated. Also, the AC is used when defrosting to remove moisture from the air inside the car so the windows don't fog.

If you want to bypass the AC, you need to remove the entire AC system.

A/C is not needed for this. My last car didn't have working A/C for about half of its life, and the windows never fogged. I just always kept some sort of airflow going. I wish my RA didn't automatically kick on the A/C when I just want to aim some warm air at the windshield.

I was unaware that the AC came on when the defrost was on. I will have to check this out. If it means anything my AC light doesn't come on when the defrost is on. My buddy has a civic and his light does come on. defrost in the summer needs ac, but the humidity is removed by the heater core in the winter.

Thanks for the info about lubrication though, thats what I was looking for. Can anyone confirm this?

Ok, checked it out and my AC compressor does cycle when the defrost is on, though there is no light. I already put the belt back on because of my girlfriend anyway.

Yes I am whipped.

Any update on this at all for anyone? I'm really curious to see if anyone has tried this, and if so what sort of gains if any, did you notice?

Alright sorry to try and resurrect a dead thread, but just wondering if anyone else has tried this, or kept the a/c bypassed/removed if so, how were the gains, and did you have any complications? If I understand things correctly PR_Mivec has bypassed just the a/c and possibly the power steering and it has yielded some nice results....? Anyhoo any input is appreciated.

Maybe if for some odd reason my RA was turned into a track car I would consider it....
