rrm piggy back question

i just installed the piggy back from rrm and it feels like once i hit mivec that it kinda lags. kinda like turbo lag but without the turbo. i'm sure its wired right. i had in the tank 87 and then put 89 in it. do you think its cause the lower octane or maybe the ecu just didn't update itself yet?? any help would be great. thanx

Did you reset the ECU when you were done installing the piggy?

It's not the gas you've got in there, mine is running fine on less octane than that. When I installed mine, I reset my ECU, let the car idle in my driveway for ten minutes, then went for an easy 10-minute drive. Then I stopped the car, shut it off for a minute, restarted it, and took off. I sure felt the difference. My car had a bit of lag between 3500-4000rpm when it was stock. That's gone now.

Give it some time to learn. Use at least 89 octane if not 91 octane. You will be fine. IF you have problem just give a call t o us.

REMEMBER, its not a kick in the pants experience. It just picks up better and faster... That, and the fact that youlll be trough your gears quicker given the faster acceleration.

Question for Rock though, If I dont have a cat eliminator in my DP. When my CEL goes on... Does it negate the effects of the piggy, since its going to closed loop or whatever?

I ask cuz my cars personality changes once that happens and I wanna know the way it affects

sorry to get in the way of your question, but does the piggy require tuning after installed?

no, it has a default tune map already loaded. You can tune the car yourself with the supplied software and some extra equipment. Read more on RRM's website www.roadracemotorsports.com

I recomend to all of the RRM piggy that want to tune their car themselves to first conecct a laptop computer to the piggy do a load maps from ecu after you connect to it open view maps after it pulls the maps check in options menu that everthing is like RRM recomends Maps should be in voltage. Start the car at idle the values that should be highlited in the table should be in the 1.4-6V range acelerate the car and you'll see the prompt highlited jump to a higher voltage this is to make you familiarize with the system now for more familiarization make a friend drive your car while you in the pasengers seat with the laptop check how the prompt moves while driving TAKE NOTES while cruiseing of the values the car uses in part, transition, and Wide Open Trottle get to know how it works before you touch anything.

Now For Dyno Tunning.
Remember when tunning on dyno do a datalog of the pull and make sure they put the AFR readings in the dyno so you can compare the AFR vs RPM vs The value in voltage the MAF was running at that time. I always use a non-permanent marker to mark the screen of the laptop or monitor this is very usefull bc's when I dyno I do a pull and have a friend with the laptop draw a line were the promt is running during the pull and then compare the AFR readings from the dyno to the values that were used in the table make subtle changes and do another pull. This is the way I have used this tool and had helped me alot acomplish 250-297whp stock internals safelly for almost a year.

This is the way I tune with this tool so take what you like from it. And by no means I am reponsable for any damage caused to your engine while, before and after you tune your vehicle.
