ROAD/RACE-Stage 3 Clutch for the RA.

We finally have our version clutch done. It is stage 3 cause it is a 4 puck disc and 2300 lbs. Sorry to tease you but I will have more info to post on it tomorrow. I wanted to post cause I know a few guys were waiting for it to be done.

I'm prob going to need a new clutch this year... if I do mostly street driving, should I go with stage 1 or 3? I'm not sure how stiff they are for daily driving.

Thanks again for adding to the product line!!!

Time for me to do some learnin', and I'm sure others are wondering as well. Why is this style of clutch (4 or 6 puck) better than a regular clutch? Logic tells me that a regular clutch has more surface area so it should bite better and last longer. I understand some of it has to do with the strength of the pressure plate, but what's the pros and cons of this design?

I believe it is inverse relationship, more pressure per square inch but 4 puck grabs alot harder also due to materilas used on the friction surface. I also beleive it operates in a higher heat range than typical clutch disk.

We sold 2 today so this must have been way over due

check this link out
http://www.team-integra.net/forum/di...0&topicid=3180

more clutch info than you can shake a stick at.

Rock, can you give us as much technical information as possible about this clutch, such as material, marcel thickness, and whether or not the material used is sintered?

why did you decide on a puck design over a full plate design? What benefit aside from the shear clamping force(ie heat capacity, weight) should we expect from this particular design over your stage one design?

do you anticipate a 6 puck clutch to compensate for greater heat dissipation and pressure plate for more force as you develop more parts for our vehicle or is this as far as you are going. If this is the end of the line are you going to develop a middle of the road full surface plate of better materials for those of us putting down lots of power but not willing to sacrifice drivability(read chatter)

everyone who reads this post should also read the information contained in the link above. The information is quoted from emails between the president of ACT and someone from team-integra.net.

from reading all of this information I estimate this clutch will be good to around 250 to 300 Tq. I am sorry for the lengthy post and the numerous questions but when my clutch goes out I WILL be going aftermarket. I want to know my options and the reasoning behind it. Which is why I had the link above on my desktop.

Thanks,
Daniel
