Putting your foot on the clutch gets rid of the noise, don't even need to press it down.

Yup. I really need to get under there and poke around, it's being intermittent, so I want to go over everything carefully. Sometime this weekend I'll do that.

I have the same problem as you Otter!

I know this thread is almost 6 years-old but I'm having the same issue with the noise.

I'm not sure if your problem was resolved or not but I would like some input/feedback to help me fix this problem.

When my car is idling, I can hear a ringing sound from underneath the car. When I put any kind of pressure on the clutch (even with my hand) the noise goes away. I'm not sure if that's a clear picture for you guys but hopefully I can resolve this issue without going to an auto shop

Thanks for the help guys!

I have this "issue" and it was after the clutch, pressure plate and TOB where replaced. Many people have told me they experience the same noise after a clutch job. They say its just the TOB

could be a lot of things...wobbly input shaft could cause a few things to "chatter"

i rebuilt my transmission and replaced my clutch at the same time, i have never heard this sound...

Last year we had a BBQ at my house, and hit the track for the evening...next day we went to a lancer/impreza meet in Toronto...

see this thread for details, but we will likely set something up again for this year...

Any input is greatly appriciated. I dread going to the dealer, but if it gets any worse I'll probably have to have them diagnose it and go from there. My luck it won't be a warranty covered issue.
im just guessing here but A) ive ahd my oem TOB die on me in in 200 kms markham said they replaced....but who knows so that an option, also could maybe be a broken pressure plate release fork thingy that is pushed on by the TOB if it goes away at certain RPMS is weird tho does it happen in all gears?
