It isn't exactly a washer. It seems to be made of copper and it crushes when you tighten it to make a good seal.

the stealership will probably charge you 5 dollars for it or something.. But its probably worth it to avoid an oil leak. Also, if u buy your filter from the dealer doesnt it come with a new washer?

Not sure I just buy a filter and 5qts oil from auto store...but I see your point on the dealership washer/gasket. I think I'll take the advice and buy it from the dealership tomorrow.

You can get crush washers at Autozone; someone in our club did.
I am sure whatever your local auto store is, they have them.
If the drain plug of a Ralliart is the same as the evo, then you want size M14.

There's nothing special about it, just a normal crush washer. Different dealerships may offer different ones, too. The one closest to me gives me cheap ones for free. Another dealership has different ones but charges $1 for them, which is absurd.

If Mitsu wants too much, try a Honda dealer... Same washer... My Mitsu dealer only charges me about $4-5 for a genuine Mitsu filter and usually gives the crush washer with it... Its a M14 Crush Washer... It sould be replaced everytime you change the oil to keep you from overtightening the plug and pulling the threads out of the pan...

It is actually a gasket according to mitsubishi. I picked two up today at the dealership, 1.34 a piece. Anyways, I will def be getting them from the auto store next time. Thanks for all your help guys!

Yea, I ran an oil change without one and I could see little spots of oil where it leaked out on the bottom of my pan. There was no damage that I know of and the amount that leaked out was very little, but I would much rather have the 1 dollar crush gasket on there then have some issue or incorrect pressure in my oil system.
