K&N drop-in filter

Has anyone tried the replacement drop in filter for our standard air filter box?
Was thinking on giving it a try before I went as far as getting a pod filter etc.

I tried the K and N drop in air filter for around a year. It was ok. Fore sure, I can noticed a really slight increase in MPG, maybe feeling a little smoother over the stock filter.
But then I replaced it with an AEM short ram, which is even better. Better throttle response, but without noticed any difference with MPG yet.

Honnestly, lots of bang for the buck, plus you keep the factory airbox. I recommend. Make sure you remove the noise insulation foam at the inlet at the same moment(some cars may come with it)

Well finally got off my butt and swung by RPW and got one... felt like a bit of a spanner carrying my month old baby in there, but it was either do that or don't go.
But yeah, I could notice a bit of a difference, nothing huge. Does sound better when you plant your foot all the way though. But worth getting for sure, I'll be interested in seeing how/if the fuel economy improves

Ditto, I got the filter and found it to be a nice alternative instead of getting a CAI. I didn't think paying 300$ and up to hear a vacuum sound coming from my engine bay whenever I floored the gas would be worth my money. Yes I know there are some gains but to each his own.

There is nothing wrong with bringing your baby to a speed shop. Start them off young. I had a K&N panel filter in my old VW, and it made a difference in mpg and maybe a little bit more power. It was nice knowing that I would never have to buy another air filter.

Looking for a used one (from someone who switched to a SRI/CAI)... if anybody is interested, hit me up.

My stock air filter is jamed-pack with crap so I have to replace it. I might as well get a used K&N than a new paper filter...
