Custom Exhaust

I was thinking, is it realistic to buy some 2 1/2 inch pipe and make your own custom exhaust. would this be as easy as it sounds or is there more to it?

Thanks, muck

if you have a pipe bending machine sitting around at home then yep it is as easy as that... plus you will need to drag out the welder to weld up the cat, resinator and muffler plus not to forget the hangers to hold the pipe to the car .

A catback exhaust will only take about 1-3 hours, depending..

Mine only took 2.15hrs.

Took me about 3 hours, with a mandrel bender, Mig Welder and I reused the hangers to make mine.... Helps to have access to a lift...

Realistically, if you had to ask, you should take it to a shop...

Take it to a shop. I built my own the first time and pulled it off a year and a half later just to have a shop remake nearly the same thing in full stainless. It is perfect now and I eneded up spending way more than I should have just to get a CBE.

Unless you have a machine shop , with all the neccesary tools including (mandrel bending machine, welder, vice, grinder, rotory saw blade, etc, etc) I expect you will get a low quality product.

For the amount of time and effort that it would take you you would be better of getting it done in a exhaust shop.

Remember, you have to create custom built brackets that will perfectly hold the exhaust to the car frame and you have to make it so that it does not makes sounds (rubbing on the chasi) while you are driving .

I see it possible but not feasible. Just my honest opinion.
