I'm excited, since this is the first major mod I've done to my car in awhile.

That thing is a major PITA to get out of the car, too. Lots of little crap to disconnect, and it's a VERY tight squeeze to pull it out. Not looking forward to putting it back in.

yea it sucks man.. i did the same thing.. dont forget to buy sum antifreez. not unless u already have sum.. it took me about three hours to get mine off. ive never pulled one till i did mine . but the result was ok.. nothing like I thought it was going to do.. but you can notice a diff.

Yeah, there's a fair amount of anti-freeze on my garage floor at the moment. Will buy some of that tomorrow while I'm out. I'm not expecting a huge difference, but I have the week off, and his price is right, so figured I'd do it as a present to myself.

yeah it took me about 6-8hours to swap mine. i was surprised with how good the gains were though. i guess alot of that has to do with supporting mods also.

$65 for a deep port/polish on the runners. I'm also going to take a closer look at my throttle body today to see if there's room for it to be matched to the gasket on the manifold side without getting close to the sensors. If I do that, then obviously we'll also gasket-match the IM on the TB side.

A lot less than RRM's, but there's a trade-off. RRM's is powdercoated (not important to me) and since RRM does a core exhange, there's less downtime. Having it done locally means I'm without my car for a couple days. There's a chance in the future that he may pick up a Ralliart core and do exhanges, but I wouldn't hold my breath at this point. He also offers Swain Tech ceramic coatings, but that raises the price significantly.

We only have a few cores to work with. That is what limits us on price. Plus we now have our porting done by Essilinger's porter. He ports 380 h.p. N/A cylinder heads and manifolds. They are over the top for a Lancer motor! RA motor's do respond nicely to porting though!

Yeah, RRM's porter is more experienced, too.

Experinece or not, he is obsessive when he ports and spends a ton of time on each manifold.

Manifold is done, and he did a /very/ nice job. Matches the gasket perfectly, blended perfectly, and he definitely took the time to get it just right. Pictures should be available soon.

Make sure you get good pictures and I hope you test fitted that battery tray so I can add them to the website if all is well. Make sure to post your results, if their good then I will have this done on my RA too.

What new gaskets did you get to reinstall this? Did you get a phenolic gasket? Anything to know when uninstalling that may make this easier? Any pointers would be great!

Thank you for the business Rob. I am glad you like the work! I am looking forward to working with you in the future to help develop more Ralliart parts! I took some piqs and they turned out nice. They have been sent to the web developer and I will post here as soon the site is updated for everyone else to see!

There is a large mismatch between the intake manifold and cyl. head ports. The Evo intake has the same problem. A definate worth your while mod.

IM is going in this afternoon. No go on the battery tray, won't fit. The Evo has those threaded studs where the battery tray bolts up, Ralliart doesn't have those, and that area of sheet metal is very different, too.

No new gaskets, one on the car is still in perfect shape, so I'm reusing it. I thought about phenolics, but didn't act fast enough, and since they're in Australia, it'd take too long for them to get here, and makes them kinda spendy.

As for taking the IM out, it's not difficult, just time consuming. It's also a very very tight fit, so it takes a bit of work to actually get the IM out of the engine bay.

Something worth noting, before you remove/install the IM, have a new o-ring handy for where the thermostat housing slips over the coolant pipe that runs behind the engine. I think the one on the car stretched when the housing was removed and now it won't seal, so in the morning I gotta go out and find a new o-ring.
