RRM Header

Well the time has come for me to buy my next mod, I'm looking at getting the RRM header for my ralliart, before i do, have a couple of questions for those who have it, so here goes, At the moment my exhaust is stock, by adding the headers with the hi flow cat, will my exhaust sound raspy ? also, will i have any problems passing the E-test or what some places call it the smog test ? at the moment only engine mod i have is coldair intake and RRM pulley, any replys from those who have the headers would be apprecieated.. Thanks

If u include the HF cat then it should be ok. without it is will sound like a hatchback civic (super raspy). my car was too loud when i had the RRM header > DP > magnaflow catback. HF MAKES A DIFFERENCE! But not sure about the smog test cause i havent gone in for one yet.

It will pass smog test...not sure about cali spec cuz I dont kno the numbers for cali.

Sound - Stock exhaust and muffler = Super Raspy, sounds mean as hell though

2.25 Exhaust with any kind of Mitsubishi OEM muffler = Mega Raspy sounds mean too

2.25 or 2.5 exhaust with silenced(glass packed) muffler... a lot better if you have a welded resonator in the exhaust... still LOUD

All Of the above options with a HF cat = A deeper tone in rpms below 3000, remember this will be the point in which your exhaust work begins to take life and therefor it will always sound LOUD, no matter the tone

Remember, the principles of a 4 banger engine will make it sound raspy with exhaust work, its just the way it is. If you are so preocupied about raspy noises you shouldnt even be considering a header. You want to go fast, there are compromises to be made

I have RRM headers, Downpipe, SRI and magnaflow axelback and it's sound really raspy specialy below 3500rpm. After that it still make lot's of noise but it doesn't sound raspy. I got pulled 3 times for noise (but had only warnings lol). I'll get the Highflowcat soon... Still perform great specialy at higher rpm (runs great on the highway!)

My next mod is the headers and the Intake Manifold. But im scared of raspyness. my downpipe sounds great now that it was settled in. So hopefully the headers wont be toooo bad. But great gains tho....

RRM header/DP HF cat and exhaust. a little raspy but nothing worth complaining over.

the IM had no effect on the exhaust sound.

Awesome gains though, really brings out the hi-end.

Hope this helps;

I have the RRM header, downpipe, magnaflow cat, flowmaster cat back exhaust.

That is my set up, raspy is far from the sound I get it's more of a deep mean sound. Very clean and non ricey, something you would hear and know that whoever owns that car has put more work into it that just taking off the cat and putting on a cheapy muffler. I'm very happy with the sound and performance I get.

I live in CA...as far as I know I'm screwed in 2 years when I have to get a smog check, it will past emissions, but not visual because it has no vin #, worst case I spend about 400 and have everything put back to stock just for the test. Also note that your service engine light will go on with the set-up you have if it's going to be the same as mine, the magnaflow cat doesn't have 2 O2 sensors so the car thinks there is a problem. Although nothing is wrong it shouldn't worry you unless you mind a CES light.

Also for those wondering the Intake Manifold and Underdrive pulley are amazing as well

Should only cost $100 to put back to stock. The good thing is the header/dp is all bolt on. All you need to put back to stock is the header/dp. As for sound, I tell guys get the header but it could be loud. But you have options after that by adding the HF cat we have. So if you like it, you like it. IF it is too loud, we have a solution. You are not stuck that way!

Hey rock,
since we are talking about the header. If I dont know the piping size of my greddy evo2.. would it matter to make the new header/dp package fit?

If your stock header/dp/cat bolted up to it so will the RRM package.

I know that the new batch of headers come with the DP. But what about the very first batches that just came with the headers. Can that batch connect up to the seperate RRM downpipe?
