Willwoods and LSD next month.

Just to let you all know my engine-swapped Lancer is doing great. It just feels faster now than it was when I just installed it! Not been a single problem.

Anyhow, I've just ordered a Willwood Big Brake kit for the front (as my bolt pattern is 4x114.3) so they will be installed within a month.

I wanted to ask anyone who knows about LSD. Im planning to order RRM's LSD mid-february, and just need to clear up what it will help with.

Will it help with wet traction? The car is definitely very slippery to handle when its wet.

Will it allow me to accelerate in 1st without the viscious torque steer and wheelspinning I get?

Does anyone think its worthwhile, for someone who plans to go Turbo before the summer?

Thanks!

It'll help you with both, since a LSD will help your trans equally drive both wheels.

Superb, I've got my old transmission laying around the garage so Im gonna have a go at removing the differential from that, as I'll be doing the work myself again.

The wet traction is something I need to sort out, at times the car just wont grip.

What tires are you using? I've got KDW and my wet traction is 10 times better than with the stocks. Glad to hear everything is up and running with no problems your lucky most swaps have issues.

Carl, the guy who did the swap with me has just bought a Fiat Coupe 2.0 20V Turbo. It has a much better top end than the Ralliart I have, but they are quite equal in low to mid range. The thing is, it has an LSD, so doesnt have any wheelspin or problems cornering like mine does. So LSD is next on my list.

I had a look at my old tranny before, and I cant figure out how to get the differential out - anyone know anywhere with a guide or something?

Tires are by far the biggest mod for traction and handling you can do. If I were you I'd upgrade those first and then see if an LSD is even necessary, although if you are going turbo it couldn't hurt. Give me a sec and I'll find a thread from the canadian lancer club site that's a review of the RRM LSD.

I've already got 18x8 OZ Ultraleggra with Toyo S1 tyres so that isnt the problem! Thanks for the link! Im gonna get it for sure, I'm just trying to figure out how hard it is to install into the tranny - getting the tranny out is easy, so from there I'm inexperienced.

NICE, looks like we are getting the LSD at the same time. I'm ordering mine this friday. I'm turbo, u have no idea how little traction i have, this LSD is going to do wonders for me. take a full second off my 1/4 mile, at least!

I'm gonna order the Turbo and LSD at the same time - it made sense to me to do it that way then I can get them installed at the same time too, still saving up - nearly there!

I'm living without food and water every other day to get the money for the turbo and LSD!
