RRM Axleback comparison

I purchased my 04 RA used, and the previous owner had installed a 4" round universal "Focuz" muffler. Looks like this:

It doesn't sound too terrible, but is way too loud. It sets off car alarms in my parking garage, is a drone on the highway, etc., etc.

I need to change it, and I am considering the RRM Axleback but I am concerned that it will not be much quieter. I'm not looking for a whisper quiet muffler, as I'd like a sporty note, but setting off car alarms is just ridiculous.

Has anyone heard the RRM axleback and a universal 4" muffler on an RA? Is the RRM going to be significantly quieter at idle and cruise?

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

I had the RRM Axleback on my OZ before I my Greddy catback. It is not as loud as the "fart cannon" that was put on your car and it is not whisper quiet. It did sound good. However, I don't know how they sound on a RA.

There are some sound clips floating around here of the RRM axleback, as well.

I've listened to them several times, it's just tough to tell how loud it is compared to what I have.

haha i don't have the rrm axel back but i have the rrm catback, same muffler though. Its nice not too loud and well since yours in an axel back it'll definitely be quieter. Although the catback i have has set off a couple alarms.. but nothing crazy..

i went from a custom axleback which had a muffler like yours the the RRM cat back.

the axle was to loud and ricey like you described yours, and RRMs was more suttle but still sporty, and like someone mentioned its the same muffler on RRMs axle and cat back so sound shoud be pretty similar.

If anything I think the catback would be quieter because it has a better resonator on it.

Possibly i forgot about that.. the only thing is does that mean the axel back can set off alarms? haha the RRM Catback on the highways at 3500 rpms is pretty loud on my car and all i have for supporting mods are the RRM SRI... otherwise i love the setup. I just wish i could get a CAI but with all the rain and ish that boston gets my car will be full of water.

I set off alarms in parking structures. Not as many as I did when I had a catless downpipe, but I still set them off.

I think that al least on our cars, we can try to run exhaust that are quieter than others, but we cant just try to be as quiet as to not set off any car alarms. I cruise through parking lots with my stock exhaust and even at that I always end up setting off at least one.
