custom sri problem
Hi guys, I've a question about intake systems. I've made a custom sri for my Ra, but after 1 day, my check engine came on. I've put the medic on it and the dtc was p0171 system too lean. I erased it and it came on again. So I've put back the oem stuff and after 2 days and many start the light goes off by itself so I know my problem is with my sri. I know there's absolutely no leakage or something like that. I'm using 3 inch aluminuim diameter tubing. I'm asking if the diameter is too much so the maf doesn't read the good thing. What are you thinking about this ?
On the pic, there's the sri install.

I believe the MAF is in the picture 03LES. It's located on the intake piping just before the pod filter.
Thrice, your intake piping sizing is larger than usual and the MAF sensor is reading more air than usual, hence throwing you a CEL.
Let's see what others have to say as well.

Thanks, so I'll rebuilt it this way, 2.5inch . Lanzerralliart, good idea to convert your cai in sri if you have the rrm hood
. For the water jacket, when it rain you don't close your vent ? Cause I have the accolade hood and my vent trap is usually close, I just open it when the temperature seems to be good for a while or when I go for drag or special event...

In a nutshell the MAF reads how fast the air is moving past it, not how much. So when the piping around the MAF is changed, the engine is pulling the same amount of air, but through a larger hole, slowing the air down. The engine sees 'less' airflow, and therefor doesnt put in as much fuel, causing a lean condition. O2 sensors detect this and trigger the CEL.
With normal cars the MAF is one unit, and changing intake piping doesnt matter 'cuz the chokepoint is around the maf itself.
