cold air question

i just installed my rrm cold intake and i sounds amazing and is awsome. but i noticed that my idle is messed up. it keeps on bouncing around 500 rpm . before the cold air it was very smooth..

i think it is because the car can not get enough air fast enough through the cai so it has a bad idle.
can anyone tellmy when this is happeing and if i can fix it.
thank you

Your ECU needs some time to adjust to the new airflow. The car is getting more air than it's used to. Give it some time and the ECU will figure it out. If you're impatient, you can disconnect your battery for 10 minutes to reset your ECU, and let your car relearn from scratch.

Yep let it idle for 10-15 minutes after resetting your ECU.

Could you please verify that the hose that comes from the valve cover is attached ?

And also verify all the clamps are adjusted?

ralliart's don't have the hose from the valve cover... at least mine doesn't.

Only the 02-03's did... and I believe that was a vacuum line

my idle does the same thing after I reset the ECU... sounds horrible for that first like 5 min or so.

Sounds like the SRI's and the CAI's have the same problem with throwing the CEL...

Your ralliart is a special one then.
As a matter of fact it does , look at the picture its just past the MAF, if he failed to install this hose it WILL give idle problems

you are saying your valve cover has no hose attached to the vent on the forward right corner(nearest the battery) of the valve cover, or that there is no vent at all?

if you don't have this hose and the vent is not plugged this is causing your problem.

edit: to clarify, unmetered air is getting into the engine.
