Myself and my Fabrication teacher at school are planning to make a custom Intake(CAI or SRI not sure yet) and headers and doing some porting and polishing. I was wondering what size should I go on the headers I have been told 1"5/8 by Ross from Ripp Mods. What other size if any should I go. And also What should I do about porting and polishing how much more would be good? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
gasket matching the ports would be the best idea. you can go further into the head, but have you read anything on porting, or has your fab teacher had experience with modern 4 cylinder engines? Not to say anything bad about your school, you just weren't very specific about your fab teacher. I plan on gasket matching the ports on the spare head I have, but I will not go too far into the head itself without knowing more about how the coolant is routed. I haven't spent time probing the water jackets to find out, so I am not sure what I am capable of doing at this point.

I want to have a pretty stout All Motor and then go FI when I come out of Boot Camp and Tech School and then go Turbo or SDS. WE are both doing research on everythng at the moment. I probably going to take my car to the Engine building teacher and get him to look at it and check everything out. My school offers a motorsports program and the engine builder used to build engines for Dale Earnhardt and he has built some 4cyl's for local racers. Im thinking about using military moeny and just getting the RRM head and Intake Manny. Im just looking for input to see if this is what I want to do
