DP vs Header and DP

Do they sound the same? Raspy as hell?

Damn...I liked the performance I got from the DP when I used to have it. I'm thinking about getting the header DP combo..I just don't really want the sound again..Guess i'll have to get the HF cat too

They sound about the same, but the header sounds a bit more refined than the DP, still raspy though.

they give a similar amount of power, but again, the header lets that needle climb a bit higher

I loved it when I had my CAI, headers, and axleback in though. With my new tires I could get a little chirp outta third gear sometimes. I miss that haha

i had the headers/dp and i just got my hf cat installed yesterday. the raspiness is 100% GONE! It doesn't sound deep or loud anymore, you can just hear that the engine has *****. Now I just need to get an axle back exhaust to get the deep nice sound.

EDIT: I haven't noticed any decrease in performance. Every now and then I catch this modded out 06 Corolla XRS 6 speed and we're pretty much dead even. Sometimes it looks like he wants to pull away but he's never had 1/2 a car on me yet. If I catch him again I'll be able to see if this hf cat decreased the performance at all.

My friend Enrai has Headers + DP + SRI + Axleback, it is one of the nicest sounding RA's I've heard, it's deep and sounds freaking great. And I am picky with sounds too! So this is one of the best. I Should get him to make a soundclip since he's a friend and coworker...

I drove by my bro and he said it sounds like my car developed a cough. I didn't know what he meant until I drove on a street where there were two side walls and the sound reflected.

It sounds kind of like there is something choking the raspiness sound (the hf cat in this case)... not good. It's one of those things where some people would prefer to deal with the raspiness sound and some people would prefer the choked up sound. Below 3500RPM it's like a toyota cressida from the 80s but above that it screams as usual.

I'd rather have the choked up sound but now I'm trying to get that axleback much earlier than planned.

Mainly I'm posting this for the people that want to know what it sounds like with what type of setup because I know I was curious and I only found clips of 2 different setups but my next post will have a sound clip.

I haven't seen that XRS but he'll find me sooner or later...

unless you run a highflow cat and upgraded name brand exhaust parts you are going to have a crappy sounding exhaust. it's either stock or all the way.

if you don't care about sound any exhaust components will produce equal power to their name brand counterpart(barring and major designs issues obviously)
