My RA exhaust tip has been black since 4-5 mnths after i bought it i put a tip on and just noticed (after 2 yrs) that it is also black

1) does anyone or everyone have this?

2) black exhaust = running rich ?

fixes ? ideas? comments?

get a afc an lean it out a little bit,i dont know much about lancers though..

 

Our cars run pig rich stock. I had my car completely stock and my tip was black...

 

all cars are tuned to run a little rich from the factory...

 

its really no big deal, ive had my axel back on for a couple months and the tip is blacker than night, nothing to really worry about.

 

yea, mines always black too, doesnt worry me, but could it also be bc our cats are geared more for performance? Just wondering bc my bros SVT has a high flow and his exhaust is blck like mine, but on both my parents cars it never is, anyway, just a thought.

 

It's easy to get off if you have a polished tip. Just get some extra fine (000) steel wool and it'll clean it right off. Finish up with some metal polish.

 

^+1 , Granted my tip never turns black but the polished tip does get dull. some mothers metal polish makes her shine like new.
