they just called again and my fuel tank is rusted so bad that it was clogging the fuel filter which supposedly ruined the fuel pump. they want $1000.00 for the tank, pump, and labor to install. does anyone know where i can get these parts cheaper and then i'll just have a local mechanic do it. I allready found the parts cheaper on the internet at www.mitsubishioemparts.com but i was wondering if you guys had any aftermarket ideas?

Rusted fuel tank sounds kindy flaky, unless your were pouring water in your fuel tank. And if you did you'd have bigger problems. I have heard of older cars sitting in around for 10+ years having rust in the tank but not new ones which are DD.

 

Aftermarket is unlikely. mitsubishiparts.net usually has better prices than the one you linked to. Also, you could search online junkyards for the tank. All the Lancers, excl Evo, have the same gas tank.
