the cel doesn't matter either way. if the car runs without the sensor (and it does) you don't need it to tune the car. if you reset the ECU after installing the haltech unit the fuel trims were at zero. if you tuned at zero trims and your o2 sensors are not changing your trims (if they are not working then the ECU should go to it's default trim level, which you tuned at) therefor not chaning your original tune at all. ssp is telling you to get a scan tool, but without telling you to. he's right, go buy a scantool, or a tactrix cable, and start KNOWING what your car is doing instead of guessing.

I will say it again: you have two operating modes for your ECU; open and closed loop. you also have a failsafe mode which will let the car get to a garage. the only other thing you could have happen is broken mode, and the car won't start. with no (or a bad) o2 sensor you are in open loop all the time, and because your o2 sensors dictate your fuel trims (along with a few other sensors that gather data over time) the ECU should reset them to zero when a CEL is thrown.

I really can't find any other way to say this, unless I am mean about it. PLEASE don't make me be mean

My CEL stays on.
No effect in power. (An i can prove it )
I have experienced the safe mode first hand.
The car would run horribly.

Sweet as! Im still going to buy some couplers as otter mentioned, and drill some holes and attach them to the o2 sensor.

I would like to know that my car is actually running well. You can't really tell if that CEL is on haha.
