cooling system

o.k. so i wanted to do a coolant flush on the ralliart, i checked on "all data" to find out where the thermostat is located, and it's telling me that it's in the back of the engine connected to the lower hose. so right away i'm thinking that the 2.4L is a reverse type system? Has anyone done a coolant flush on the ralliart? let me know if i'm wrong. Cause on the 2.0L lancers the thermostat is located by the upper hose like a normal vehicle. Also what kind of coolant is everyone using on the ralliarts, cause the manual calls for long life coolant, but my coolant was green from the dealer. long life coolant is not green! or is it??? I wanted to use dex-cool extented life coolant which is the same as long life coolant, and it's orange. does anyone know if i'll be alright with dex-cool?

The mitsubishi coolant is long life and his color is green.

In my opinion, I would not recommend to put dexcool in our car for the reason that dexcool is orange and mitsubishi coolant is green... Sometimes it's hard to clean up completly the system so if the two coolant get mixed, it'll make a king of mud. Hard to clean after that...

I don't believe we have a reverse cooling system. Our water pump is still belt driven. Can't explain the location of the thermostat though.

Dexcool is crap, don't use it. Regular green long-life antifreeze is just fine.

Our thermostat is inside the housing that connects the upper hose to the head. Unbolt the 90* metal elbow (thermostat housing) and the thermostat will be inside. It's not a reverse system.

I'm still on the original factory fill. Concentration is still perfect and it's completely clean. I doubt I'll have to replace it until it's time to replace the headgasket.

Never use Dexcool in the Mitsubishis unless required. GMs use Dexcool. Any 50/50 glychol will work fine.

I searched and didn't find anything , so does anyone know if the evo 8-9 thermostat would fit in the ralliart-04-06? I'd like to get a lower temp one so that's the reasoning behind it.

Why do you want a lower temp one? Our cars cool great from the factory.

I agree cooler can be better unless the thermostat is not letting the car get up to normal operating temperature in which case it could cause additional wear and tear on the engine.
