Just a couple questions, I just installed the RRM CAI and was wondering if I could get a few things answered. I did let it idle for 10 min after I installed it but didn't take the battery connections off, in one of my searchs Rock said it wasn't necessary if no CEL came on, which mine did not. And yes I did search and it answered alot of my questions but theses are the ones left.
-After I start the car should I let it sit for a second. It seems like when I initially take off it dosnt run right, but the next time I gun the gas it feels very strong like it should.
-Also a 4k RPM right after I put it on, it felt like it fell on its face and regained power after that. It seemed to go away after a bit. Also at about 4k RPM the whistling sound goes away and all I can hear is the engine is that normal?
-On the splash guards is it ok for the filter to touch them? And the splash guard that the intake has to go thru, did you guys leave it on and cut a hole thru it for the pipe. Or did you just remove it all together?
Thats it on the questions. Hopefully someone can answer them for me, I just dont know.
Thanks.

It does get a deeper tone, I guess you could say, when it hits mivec

I took it all off and left it off.

If your doing the CAI setup, put the splash guards back on, cuz I didnt and it rained one day and I got water in my engine and it killed it. I didnt get enough to hydrolock it though, just clean it. Put the splash guards back on, tighten all connections and vacuum hoses, reset the Ecu, let it run for 15 minutes then drive it, DON't turn it off cuz it will run like crap the next time u turn it on. If it doesn't run like crap then you did everything right. Let me know if u have further questions...
Dude, you're going through the exact same crap I did. I eventually just kept the intake off, cuz I had too many problems with it. My car would always idle funny and when I started it each time, it bogged down at first and then after awhile the power came back. It all is in the MAF sensor, the vacuums have to be sealed and the MAF seated correctly with no air escaping the intake tube. I tried everything, however, my car still never ran right. You will get a check engine light after awhile because the fuel curve works its way up and will eventually run lean, which is BAD!! So I suggest this.

besides, would you rather believe a moderator with 5500 posts or a newb with 29???
Ok I havent had to much time to mess with it because my buddy and his girlfriend were hit while we were out ridin the supermoto's so I am writing this from the ICU. But I checked everything again this morning at like 6am and unhooked the battery, I let it idle for 10 min and took off. Then I hdrove for about 10 miles and had to stop at Walmart and when I started it up the RPM's kept getting real low and finally it died, I restarted it and took off, it ran good the rest of the way.
I am gonna give it a little time to see if it goes away but my attention is elsewhere. Thanks or the help guys, any other suggestions are appreciated.

dont listen to him. make sure there is no air leaking. disconnect your battery. it will take a few days for the ecu to re-calibrate the air/fuel ratio that is now slightly different. you can take the splash guard off but dont be an idiot, dont race your motor in the rain. duh.

Just give your car a little time!! it sounds like because the way it idles, you have an air leak, either a vaccume hose or the airflow sensor isn't seated right. your car will run lean, but should idle smooth. if you get an engine code check it, if it says car running lean, your ok, if it says bad o2 sensor you may have messed up your MAF in the install. like otter said though, be patient with it.
