Exclamation possible tranny problems?

ok i am seriously worried about my ride...i have an 04 ralliart manual with about 30k miles. i have full exhaust, cold air intake and an undrive pully. i have notice that when i am in 4th and fifth gear and i step on the gas my car revs but there is little to no pick up. it just revs up and then slowly and i mean SLOWLY picks up speed. 1st second and third gears have no issues. there are no strange noises other than my engine reving. i have not changed any of the gear fluids. i just replaced the spark plugs. i do have a check engine light but i think that it is do to a weak o ring around my mas flow sensor on the cold air intake. i have not checked the codes. question is, is this a clutch going out problem? or a transmission problem? can anyo ne help??

Sounds like your clutch is slipping and is nearly gone. Symptoms always show up first in 5th gear. Replace it ASAP.

Having your stock clutch go this quickly makes me wonder about your driving style, too.

yea when i first bought my car i drove the hell out of it, then i was deployed to iraq for a year and a half so i didnt drive it at all, that is why there is low miles. now i have upgrades but i have been driving better because i dont want any speeding tickets. i did take it to the track though

I guess that's being optimistic and not looking at the price sticker that's gonna come with it

your maf o-ring would have nothing to do with the car reving but not picking up speed, the tranny must be slipping for this to happen.

well....i took it in to mitsubishi to get diagnosed and here is what they said....."random misfires stored in ecm. vehicle has abnormal idle possible map sensor failure. vehicle has clutch slip in 4th to 5th gears. tech will need to call technical assistance for mitsubishi before further diagnostics. performed drivability diagnostics. recommend replacing spark plugs. further diagnostics needed to complete." basically, they diagnosed that they need more diagnostics hahaha so im taking it in on monday so mitsubishi can call mitsubishi for further guidance hahhaha WTF ?!?!?!

That really sounds to me like they want to soak you for parts you don't need to replace yet (spark plugs), and noticed the aftermarket parts on your car so must find out what is covered under warranty and what isn't before any further diagnosis is made.
