Unhappy P0300

OK, so i pulled the code on my vehicle because ses ligyht has been on since i installed my rrm CAI....i got a P0300 code, possible misfire conditions. problem is that it says it could be one of four problems...vaccum leak, bad injector, high or low fuel pressure or bad plugs and wires. one of my mechanic friends says it sounds like the car is getting too much air. i tried the vaccum leak tricks by spraying starter fluid all over my hoses and listening for rev action, i changed my plugs...none of them were bad, and the only time my car is really bogging down is in fourth and fifth gear when the engine is getting the most air. i recently changed my MAF O ring becuase it was broken and it wasnt sealing correctly...since then i reset my ecu but when i started to drive it away, it stalled...i think that may be why i still have a problem. i am going to try resetting it again but in the mean time has anyone else had this fing problem??? i might try putting the stock intake back on and see what happens.

P0300 codes in Mitsubishis are really not understood exactly but its something that can be turned off in a flash. They can happen because of (but not limited too):

clutch noise
tranny noise
BOV when it applies
cams
actual misfires
injectors
etc.

Its easier to turn it off and forget about it to be honest.

well....i took it in to mitsubishi to get diagnosed and here is what they said....."random misfires stored in ecm. vehicle has abnormal idle possible map sensor failure. vehicle has clutch slip in 4th to 5th gears. tech will need to call technical assistance for mitsubishi before further diagnostics. performed drivability diagnostics. recommend replacing spark plugs. further diagnostics needed to complete." basically, they diagnosed that they need more diagnostics hahaha so im taking it in on monday so mitsubishi can call mitsubishi for further guidance hahhaha WTF ?!?!?!

welcome to mitsu dealerships I'm never going back to one of them (here in Texas) because the sold me a car w/o a clear title and repo'ed it a month later.

anyways here are some other hints as to what can cause a p0300.

• Ignition system related part(s) failed.
• Poor crankshaft position sensor.
• Incorrect air/fuel ratio.
• Low compression pressure.
• Skipping of timing belt teeth.
• EGR system and EGR valve failed.
• ECM failed

I wouldn't be surprised since you mentioned you installed a CAI that you are having a lean misfire condition.Check for any vacuum leaks first then if it sounds like it is time for a tune.

the check engine light is only a light that says your car is faster than stock. ignore it. be a man... your car aint bogging out is it? just drive it and be merry.

yes its bogging out! haha updates: the mechanics now say that the engine misfires are due to the clutch slipping which is being cause by my slave cylinder leaking. they still arent sure if the clutch needs replacing
