New reflash features...

Yes, I've got 880h of work into it. Why is it 04:50 and I'm still pounding on IDA. An unbelievable amount of work but yes reflashes are doable. I've already done a couple. Still working on getting the turbo version running perfectly but the NA reflash works very well. I'm just adding extra features now...

When I'm ready to market it publicly I will have to look into getting a vendor account here. As it is depending on your mods I might be able to sign you up as a beta tester.

So I spent a good 12h working on and testing the patch for the launch control. Why couldn't Mitsubishi have used a standard microprocessor? I can't even buy an assembler for their code so I had to write one (in perl) but I found that they used some retarded instruction encoding where certain instructions can be pipelined but others can't so some of the code ran properly but some did not.
For the computer geeks out there patching factory code consists of displacing a chunk of factory code so you can insert the CALL instruction, the list of parameters and such inside of a stock routine. i suppose I could re-code some of their stuff to yield the extra 4 bytes required for a function call but this is a simpler solution and it gives me a large enough stub to add in future boost cut routines.
Last test of the day I had a cool valet mode. Above 10km/h the engine would shut off until you dropped below 10km/h. Made for a pretty funny drive around the parking lot. I'm out for the weekend so I'm hoping to have this feature completed by next week.

The look on the face of the driver
LOL
Seeing as we are throwing ideas around is it at all possible to bypass or eliminate the need for the O2 sensor on intake and or the O2 sensor on the exhaust as this seems to be the biggest cause on CEL when people do mods to there cars or just give it a bigger tolerance for variations of air flows and temps
In encouraging people to be environmenally responsible I would prefer to keep the rear O2 function enabled to discourage removing the cat entirely but I'm almost ready to test with a car that's getting the cat efficiency check engine light.
The valet mode thing was a bit of a joke. I think you'd be better to install a proper alarm with a hidden fuel cut switch somewhere. I suppose I could play with dual RPM limits and boost cuts if you guys like. Would require wiring an additional switch to your ECU plug.

Feature is now complete and tested. Not adjustable yet but I'm sure that can be added at a later date. I will see if the Mule can bring his camera tomorrow and I'll youtube a boost launch - I mean fried tires off the line.
What has been said.....
The experience was great! I was smiling for hours after!
After we plugged the new ECU in I immediately had a smile on my face with the launch control, I love the idea of not having to do anything but hit the pedal for a great launch (we tested it behind FS )
So we drove around for a bit making sure all was fine, then I hit it at about 4000rpm and my pants got tight. The difference was VERY noticeable, Ive had the Split Second piggy back in my car for almost a year now and this murders it!!! For around the same price as a decent piggy back its a great buy!
I look forward to playing around with it more! Thanks again Brent!

Looking into this as it is legal in my class to play with the stock ECU but not adding a piggyback. A friend of mine need it too because his piggyback can't control timing and that's what missing for a better gain.
Waiting for you guys to have something that we can bring for a dyno tune.

It will be a while before a user adjustable system is available. I am flying to asia in 2 weeks to work with some hardware engineers on the reflash device but it will take lots of time to complete the software and then testing. Until then it will have to be offered as a mail-in service. I do have several cores here so it's not too hard to have a swap service with a suitable deposit on the core.
I just got finished playing with a timing control box and ultimately ended up ripping it out - like many piggybacks it gets in a fight with the factory ecu. It seems to me that mivec does not always engage in the same way so you can't properly predict when you should be fooling the system into adding timing. Timing is also adjusted with the IAT and CLT sensors so not monitoring these you can't just blindly add timing. Sometimes it randomly sees knock and pulls timing everywhere! UGH!
If you reset your ECU every day then it will work after about 15 minutes of driving but that's hardly optimal! It sucks because I know the company who developed it must have put a lot of work into it. I tried to contact them for a few weeks on end about carrying my reflash but ultimately they never returned the calls and the guy I needed to contact was never there. I'm looking for a few more beta testers in the US but the NA reflash is nearly ready to release. Haven't determined yet how I'm going to market it. I hate doing sales directly as I'm more of an R&D and tuning company.
I've tuned a few NA ralliarts so far and they all seem to like the same timing changes. I will be doing one with the RPW cam in it shortly and will see if the timing changes are consistant with that as well.
