My SS Performance Ralliart Crankshaft

I recently got my crankshaft. I got it custom made from a member on this site. Steve from SSPerformance. If you are going for high horsepower, or high boost levels, this is a must have part, along with pistons and rods.

What I did was take out my stock crankshaft and sent it out to california where SS Performance worked their magic. They did everything to the crankshaft to be able to handle 600whp. He said he can do more work to the crank for it to handle well over and up to 1000 horsepower. All on custom order of course.

Well Just looking at the stock crank and the SSP crank is just like night and day. The stock one has that dull used metal look. the SSP one is SHINY!! lol. They do EVERYTHING to the crank. Starting from shaving a few pounds off it and grinding it down. than balancing it, shot peen it, nitrate it, heat it and harden it, and they even Anodized it. So alot of steps, alot of work to keep the crank sturdy under high stress.

Here are pics of the SSP crank for the 4g69 motor.

So between the 3 facts that its now lighter than stock, way stronger than stock, and now balanced, it will be a huge imporovment over the stock unit. Not only can I throw more boost at the motor, but now it will probably free up a few ponies to. Every little bit helps lol. There maybe some things i'm forgetting. i'll post back up, or maybe steve can post up and drop some knowledge.

Interesting claim of being able to handle well over 1000whp when a ralliart with Nothing close to that HP even exists..

correct a 1000 whp dont exist yet. but He said he can make a crankshaft that should be able to hold that kind of power. its not like "put this crank on your car and you'll have 1000 whp" its just able to handle it.

Lets not make a pissing contest out of this. i mean come on, its about time somebody other than RRM is making aftermarket products for our cars. So get off it guys, for real.

The question is.. Who is breaking the cranks ot prove any work needs to be done to it?? Pushing the limits on the stock parts might prove the stock crank handles 1000hp.. Boost level has no relevance to the crankshaft either..

quick question on the crankshaft... is it really only beneficial for turbo cars or would NA cars benefit from it as well?

Your cutting weight and strengthing a part at the same time so all cars would benefit from it.

what kind of gains would you expect from this part? jes making the car more rev happy and some low end torque?

My thoughts on this:

1-I am glad that somebody finally found a way to enhance our crank. I think you are doing this as a safety measure and not as a DRAG CAR IMPROVEMENT.

2- Most important than what you did to the crank is the price you paid vs the HP gain. So... how much did it cost?

3- I believe you need to change the 16G turbo the RRM kit comes with for a 18G or something bigger.

Mike,
I understand the questioning. Understandable considering AwdMotorsports has achieved oustanding goals. I have broken 3 stock cranks on a turbo project of mine. I wanted to test the limits of the stock crank so i used my dyno mule 4g69. At 680hp on the dyno i broke the crank at the #2 main journal. I figured might of been too stressed so i tried a crank with only 5k on it. Same thing. After the third i desided to modify the stock crank to handle more abuse and limit the amount distortion. I am not trying to step on any toes nor create any lies. I am trying to get the ralliarts more options if they plan on taking it to the next level. We don't need no bashing or name calling here. I am sure you are not that kind of person. I do enjoy watching some of ya'lls drag videos on youtube. Thank you for your time.

-Steve

i agree..and mike from awdmotorsports should maybe produce some product for us to buy, instead of critisizing the products others have produced.
