Flickering Oil Light

Has anyone ever encountered the flickering oil light at low idle with the RA? Am i looking at a new oil pump,or sender unit. I should note that this happened after I changed my oil two days. Got it changed at Valvoline and they used 5-30w Sythentic. I already called and told them the situation so I'll see what they say. Anyone else have any ideas?

I had a problem like this in my Evo, if the ralliart oil pressure system is anything like the Evo's, then it is probably a corroded oil pressure sensor and since you are in Boston, this seems even more likely.

The oil pressure sensor is on the back of the block near the center. If you get under your engine and look up behind it, you should see it sticking out there with a single wire coming out of it.

Low RPMs

Same thing happened to me 3 years ago.
The dealer fixed it (warranty), it was oil pressure sensor.

I agree with otter. I bet it's the oil pressure sensor. I had the same issue with my R/A. I remember it being about $7 at the parts store. The one I got had a different type of connector (male "faston" tab connector instead of a screw hole like the old one), but it worked fine.

Man I love this site.

This issue just started to occur. My R\A has nearly 100k and of course, living in WI, snow + road salt = corrosion.

I'll be crawling under the car and making the change to the sensor.

It's not too hard replace, I think it requires like a 23mm socket, or you can buy the specific tool made for it. Just make sure the car is cold, last thing you want is hot oil on your face.

meaning do it while you're doing an oil change or else you'll have oil everywhere?
