Had this problem on my 02 Lancer OZ. I just adjusted the idle ever so slightly to be higher and never had the problem again. Oh well :P

It appears to be the sending unit since the car drives fine and the light only comes on after a highway drive of 30 minutes or so.

And yes, I'll do it when I change the oil, makes sense.

Oil change is not necessary. The oil pressure unit it just a small sensor on the back of the block. When you remove a very very small amount of oil dribbles out. It may fall on you if you're under the car. Now imagine if that oil was hot.....

Changed this yesterday. Pretty simple just a bit awkward. No more annoying flckering oil light.

Yes and shortly after that the engine let go....As someone said (otter i think) could be a dirty component either way dont drive it untill you know what is causing it.....
