Porting of Intake/TB

Ok guys, I'm going to be porting my Intake/TB and going to do the throttle body bypass. I'm going to be doing this along with my mechanic which is my father-in-law haha. But I just want to make sure of somethings before I do it.

About how far back on everything should I shave away the metal? I'm assuming for the TB, to take it back to at least the flap? And the intake mani, I saw that there was a how to in the regular lancer section, it said about 2.5-3 inches. So I'm assuming thats far enough?

I think thats about all I wanted to know.

2-3" should be good that's about what rrm did on theirs when I got it , look into the eclipse gt tb, I got it and I love the sound differece and the gain I felt... Post up pics we need more involvement here as the ralliart seems to be falling off the map... ...... But then again when someone sees one it'll be fully built and killing left and right...

Haha will do I'll make sure to take photos. I actually plan on painting the engine cover...where it says mivec. And painting the brake calipers. Also I would get the eclipse TB but I really don't feel like spending money and everything since I'm actually getting married in 2 weeks. So I'm just DIY mode at the moment. I've actually seen about 4 ralliarts in my area. But they're bone stock. One is riddled with really stupid stickers

Thanks for the info

From what RRM said IIRC theres no worthy gain in PNP on the TB. As for the PNP on the mani go as far down as you can reach.

Looking into doing the Eclipse TB swap, is there really no gain from it?!

Ya theres definitely gains to be made from the TB swap. I ran it until I sold the majority of my N/A mods before buying a turbo kit. I took off the TB and reset my ECU, allow for the normal learn periods to occur - result was a definite difference in power as well as throttle response. The 4g69 eclipse owner who bought the TB off me feels the same way as I did in terms of power, in fact he's excitedly telling people about it on club4g.org as I write this.

**** it, I'm doing it. I just did my coolant bypass today so this is next on the list. I'm also reaching out to a company in Cali to try and get some custom thermal spacers made!

There is gain from the GT swap but I was saying its not really worth it to port the stock ralliart TB.

haha yea, for me I have hackish's reflash. And for some reason I have a dead spot right when mivec engages to about 5500. But once I did the bypass, and *ahem* added some hood spacers I really don't feel a dead spot anymore. So I'm happy

I'm still wanting to port the intake and tb but since I was painting some things on the car that didn't happen. So Hopefully this Monday I will be able to do this.

I Have the reflash as well and yesterday was the first I've ever ran with a CAI, always an SRI and I've noticed a dead spot around5500 rpms as well. What are hood spacers?

Now I did this myself for 3$ It will make your car look like you were in an accident or something, but I can feel the heat pour out.
