So what MAS does the ralliart run?
I went under the hood of my car about 2 weeks ago and got a good look at the sensor on the 04 RA. The one big obstacle I am seeing is the this MAS is literally connected to the air box. That is, it is one big piece, where the Eclipse, Galant, and most other mitsu's have a bolt-on design MAS. I am looking at these pics of intake on these Lancer RA's and I am not seeing my MAS anywhere. Where is it guys? I am pretty sure I cant just unplug it and drive without it.
one last thing to add. If it is the same piece as the air box, do I have to cut the airbox to get a cold air intake that works right? And it is a small inlet, but it looks to flow very smooth.

dunno. looks as though you unbolt the sensor itself and pull it out the piping. ask the guys who got it already. its that little box thing where the wires hook up to.
if anyone could get pictures of the sensor itself, that would be grrreat... i'm surprised there's no write ups yet.

Just look at the 3 bold black #'s on the MAF. That's the model #.
EDit: corrected some info - need to double check
Expansion on the MAF model #.
449 = 4g mirage w/ a G93 and 97 mirage
unknown = 1g DSM and the 4G61T for the 3g mirage/summit cyborg HB. Looked at mine, but there is no model #.
609 = 3kGT VR4 (confirmed by me) and Evo 4-8 (the latter confirmed by me at the dealership).
If anyone doesn't think bigger MAF does anything, tell me why other car models are doing it?
1) Most SR20DET swap their MAF (hotwire) to either the 300ZXT or the 03 Cobra (has anyone look at that huge MAF).
2) 1g DSM usually want to swap their smaller MAF for the 2g DSM MAF or GM's converted MAF.
3) Most Ford V6 that were placed in the contour SVT or cougar can run an upgraded MAF tuned up to 75mm from the stock 50 or 55MM.
If bigger MAF doesn't gain or lose much, I dare any EVO 8 owner downgrade their 609 to a measely 605. See, they will hit fuel cut so fast, because the smaller MAF can count airflow that high.
If the RA MAF is circular in the housing design = Hotwire.

I would rather not.....downgrade, although keep us posted on the results for your RA!
