Just to let people know that I didnt forget. I took like 8 different pics of the sensor and mount, I am just waiting to finish the rest of the roll of film so that I can go get it developed and post it up here. I am going to Vegas tomorrow for a day and I am SURE I will use it there. So I will have all the pics we need on Friday.

Merci beaucoup.

Ya, when you take pics on a reg, low end, camera, pics tend to look nasty. Digi cams on the middle end of technology can improve the quality of pics to 85%. Then, with paint shop pro or any other pic editting program, it starts to look +90% better.

To make sure that's it's 100% conclusive on our assumption, can you take a pic in front of the circular housing, just like Rhyzin had done? I gotta go back and look at the 1.5L engines.

I'm having some second thoughts as being a MAP sensor after looking at a 1.5L (G15) and 1.6L MIVEC (G92) and taking a gander at the dealership.

It might be hotwire since it looks like GM's V8's, Ford Contours' SVT 6 banger, my past 240sx, and the Endeavor's 3.8L. BTW, the Endeavor uses the same part # as the RA. I need to confirm it again when I have the time to look at the diamante 3.5L.

Also, the 3g eclipse GTS uses even a slightly bigger MAF w/ the smaller pin plug. Its model # is 382 (not 100% sure. I was trying remember a bunch of parts # in a short amont of time). It makes about +10 HP over the GT model.

interesting. always figured that the two temp sensor wires in a hotwire setup have to be a little bit further apart and longer. there should also be something to straighten out the air before going in. on shut down, a hotwire sensor heats up to 1000 degrees F to clean off any debris. if it is hotwire, it's much different than any i've seen. but then again, it's not that many

On my pat 240, there is a metal tube that holds the sensor. I never unplugged it to take a closer look.

Basically, the hotwire system look like a tonsil within the intake tube.

If you have the time, go to a salvage yard. There should be enough dead 240's . . . take out the metal intake tube. You'll see the hotwire system.

When I go back to pick up my DSM parts from the dealership, I'll ask any mechanics if it's hotwire or not.

shop manual says it's a "heat sensitizing" sensor. i would assume that's a hotwire setup. mystery solved.

one mystery solved being hotwire . . . wow, Mitsu put some new technoly that I didn't really expect.

The next Q: diameter size. Next, start follow the lead that the nissan 240's and lesser models have upgraded their hotwire to either the 300ZXT or 'Stang Cobra. Controlled only by S-AFC, need no translator program.
