How many volts to fuel pump

I have a 2004 ralliart race car. I had some wiring issues so i wired the fuel pump directly to the battery. After about 15 or 20 laps you can here the fuel boiling. I'm thinking its meant to run on less than 12 volts, but not sure. I'll probly go with a fuel cell and after market pump next season. Any ideas on what pump.

How many volts to fuel pump-img_0343.jpg I have only run it twice, won the first time out, Franklin County, VA. Had a wheel rubbing a caliper at my home track and dropped out after about three laps. I will have all the bugs worked out before next year.

Stock pump on stock wiring gets full battery voltage. I just looked up the wiring diagram to verify.

The car was wrecked when I got it and there was a small plastic box on the left rear that was busted that the vent hoses hooked to. I hooked the vents together. That must be causing the heat build up. Fuel cells are not mandatory but would probly be the best fix. Plus the added safety would be good to.
