Reflash Review
Reflash Review
Instead of Necro'ing my old thread and adding new info to it I'm just creating a new one.
Car: 2006 RA- Manual
Mods:
AEM SRI
OBX Header and downpipe-wrapped
RRM Underdrive pulley
Galant Throttle Body
Thermal Spacers
TB bypass
Grounding Kit
Custom Exhaust- No Cat
ECU Configuration:
2-step: 4,000
Rev Limit increased to 7,500
Speed limiter removed
93 Octane
Wanted Mivec lowered to 3,500 but its not there
So to try and not make this excessively long, the first time I got my flashed ecu it took about 2 weeks. But we had that snowstorm of epic proportions going on outside so it didn't bother me. Canada got hit with it also I believe. Once I was able to test out the ECU everything worked, except Mivec. It would activate with a huge jolt, sending you into your seat. Now I loved the fact it did this, but after doing several tests, mivec was slow. From 0-60 it took me about 10-12 secs. But I had a crap ton of power before mivec, it was weird. It seemed like Mivec was flip flopped haha.
I never recieved my stock ECU flashed back to me till last month (October) During this time every 2 weeks I emailed Hackish just wondering what was going on and how long it would take to get my Stocker back. They were doing more R&D into it so I assumed I might as well wait.
During this time I didn't feel like buying another ecu so I dealt with it. Some oil changes made Mivec work but then the next day it would be back to square one. It did work for about a week but then stopped again, it was quite frustrating. After a while I stopped going into Mivec and I was happy
Now once I finally recieved my stocker back flashed I was happy and installed it right away. Everything worked as it should! Mivec was noticible but also at the same time it glided. By this time a fellow member wanted a video of how my mivec activated. So I recorded the new (way it should work) and then I recorded the old. But when I installed the old ecu, Mivec decided to work. I felt like crying since I put up with it not working for about 9 months. I don't know why but the old ecu started working.
The only problems I currently have with the ECU I have now is that I wanted my Mivec lowered, my Idle increased to 1,000, and the cat effeciency code deleted. But I'll wait for the software to come out so we can flash it ourselves. Not that big of a deal to me. I did recently buy a cat code eliminator from RRM so that will be gone.
So with all that said, I do recommend the flash. From what I've been reading and talking, most of the problems are fixed. And your ride should be good to go.
I'll give them an 8/10 for the flash, just due to the problems I had.
9/10 for the business
But really 5/10 for communication. Its insanely hard to get a hold of you guys! I may have gotten annoying over the months but I was just frustrated with my car

Thanks for the write-up.
I do have a few questions if you would care to answer them.
How long have you had the newest ECU in your car?
Have you dyno'd your car in it's current configuration?
Have you monitored your gas mileage?
Thanks

I've had it in for only about 3 weeks.
No, I have yet to Dyno the car, I would like too but don't have the time to do this. Not until the new year actually.
And yes I constantly monitor my mileage. I never write it down but I know what I normally get. It hasn't changed, the only time it does is when I can't find ethanol free gas

E-free gas gives higher MPG while 10% Ethanol gives less. About 30-40 in my case...Oh and its a lot more responsive with E-free gas

Any more, I'll gladly respond!
