Calling all Auto Ralliarts! HELP!

Does anyone out there have their engine apart right now that would be able to help me out?

I'm stuck with the problem that the crank I got may not work with our Auto Tranny. It came out of a Manual car and I'm beginning to believe that it may be longer than an Auto crank.

Would anyone if they have their engine apart be able to measure for me how long their crank is? That or at least how far it sticks out like this

Im feeling like mine is sticking out way too far and want to know if anyone can shed some light on this for me!

He is the one I bought the crank from. He is running the same crank with no issues so I'm assuming its a auto vs manual thing

I'm thinking that would be true as well... Talk to resurrectedralliart , his is an auto and he is/will be soon pitting his motor back in. Although he has a sportback it shouldn't matter ?

I just checked Alldata and theres only 1 part number listed for the crankshaft. I don't think they differ for manual or auto.

i got a hold of the mitsu parts department and they told me that even though the part numbers are the same that there is a chance that they could slightly vary just being auto/manual. which doesnt really give me much confidence...

I talked to my mech for about 5 minutes today about some stuff. and i mentioned this. He said it really shouldnt matter if its auto or manuel. and he knows for a fact its the exact some model 4g69 model motor that is in both mine and your cars. he has no idea why it wouldnt fit.

the only other thing we can think of is that the torque converter isnt seated in all the way

here is the picture of how far it is in

I had another mechanic look at it though and he said though that it appears to be in as much as it will cause he can hear everything turning thats supposed to be there... we're just not sure what else it could be.

Im trying to get a hold of any auto ralliarts to see how far their torque converter is sitting in their housing if their engine's are out of the cars

Not sure if it is the same as the 4G94, 4G63 or 4G64 but on those all the cranks are the same just that at the end there is a small piece that is pressed into the center of the crank .

we found the center pieces however its not what is keeping the crank from bolting up =/

Yes, there is a difference between the manual set-up and the auto set-up, what that difference is... I'm not sure. I know they had to pull parts off my blown engine to set-up the new engine (originally a manual trans engine). When the mechanic realigned the transmission he busted the trans pump gear, and I am now waiting for the pump to arrive.

I will head over the mechanic on Monday to take pictures and measurements, I will consult with the mechanic about your issues specifically.

Perfect timing on your PM Raikiri, 2 more days and things would have been buttoned up for another 2 years...

If you could ask your mechanic about what differences they were please let me know. So far everything on the engine is the same except the crank which was pulled from a manual engine i believe.

the measurement of how far the crank sticks out as well as the measurement of how far in the torque converter goes in would definitely help me out

The mechanic wasn't in today, I couldn't get measurements or discuss the issues. The converter wasn't in place. I took a few pics, not sure if they will help at this time.

This is the difference, no flywheel, only an adapter plate. I knew that, just wasn't sure if there were other differences between the AT and the MT.

I will meet with the mechanic when he is in tomorrow.
