Flywheel
Flywheel
I have two questions.
Will a 2000 eclipse clutch work in the ralliarts? I know a guy that bought a new one and traded his car off so I can get it cheap.
How much can the steel flywheel be lightened? I saw somewhere that someone got the factory one down to 12 pounds. But after hours and hours of searching I can't find it again.

check this thread for a lightened flywheel Al flywheel
as far as the clutch is concerned, I don't think it will work.

Based on our flywheel being dual mass, lightening it is pretty much out the question. The shops that can lighten them are few and far between due to very precise equipment being required.
Dual mass flywheels have intricate components. When you start shaving weight you start throwing off the balance aka harm the structural integrity of the flywheels. Prior to say 2001 Most flywheels were single mass, but those are few and far between on most manual cars today.

You're out of luck. I've tried to source a custom lightwieght steel flywheel for my car and you can expect to pay about 900 bux.
Lightening the stock weight can't happne
...and you can't use a performance aluminum flywheel...only option you're left with is custom. I don't know maybe an old DSM flywheel would fit and you could machine that.
