Clutch/ rev noise??

So sometimes when shift into reverse, it doesn't exactly go into reverse... it just revs like its in neutral but with a higher pitch sound. then i put it back into neutral, then back to reverse and its fine. I don't know if its a clutch because ive never had to replace one before so i wouldn't know. it just got back from an inspection from the dealership so i assume they would have checked that..maybe im wrong?

thanks

not sure why this is always missed, but it's rather important to note whether this is regarding a manual or automatic shifting transmission.

*never mind, I assume its manual cause you mention clutch.

next time this happens try keeping some pressure on the gear shifter, pushing it into reverse, and slowly letting go of the clutch. should slip into gear at the friction point.

this.

and the dealership won't check for anything unless you specifically ask them to. when was your last fluid change? I doubt the clutch has anything to do with it.

Seems normal ill say, its like its in gear but not right? Mine does that randomly AS WELL AS MY MOMS 04 eclipse. I think its a mitsu thing. You go to put it into reverse and it feels almost as if its in but not at the same time, then throw in neutral and back in and its fine right?

mine does something like that as well, actually both my lancers do, but not to any degree that would concern me, especially having seen the inside of my transmission recently, and everything is clean and free of wear.
