Clutch

So my clutch and/or slave cylinder are fubar'd. Replacement cost for jobber parts is stupid $$$ and OEM is again stupid $$$. Can anyone suggest a decent stage 2 aftermarket that isn't going to grenade on me in 30000km?

I phoned a couple place in town here and everyone seem to be quoting $600 for OEM but $500 for a more durable clutch is reasonable to me. Do you have any suggestions on brands? I haven't heard alot of bad things about ACT kits. I was looking at the MR1-HDG6 one they offer and it's good to around 330ft/lbs which will be nice since I'm planning on putting a turbo on next year.

ACT tends to chatter. I would go clutch masters or exedy IMO

I recently installed the ACT stage 1, only cause i got a retarded good deal on it, it does chatter, but i have yet to have any problems with the master or slave cylinders.

In my opinion, and in my own personal experience, it's pretty good, but i've only had it on for about 2000km so i'll post if something goes wrong.

OEM clutch kits should not be the same price as a clutchmasters kit, where are these prices from? If that's the case though clutchmaster if you want some headroom. Exedy is OEM replacement, or at least that's what came out of mine.

OP, how many miles do you have on your RA? Also, what did you end up doing?

I have just a smidge over 97000 but I've only had the car since 50000 and have no idea how the previous owner drove it. I'm just in the process of taking the transmission out to see what I'm up against.

Based on your mileage, and not knowing how your clutch was treated prior to 50k, it sounds like your OEM clutch was pretty durable.

He's Canadian, so he's probably talking KM.

With just some quick half-assed searching I'm seeing the Clutchmasters Stage 1 clutch for our cars going for $340 shipped. I know you're asking for stage 2 but in reality the stage 1 is more clutch than nearly any RA owner will ever need.
